On his way back to the Emperor's Castle, Hunter bonds with his palisman, thanking it for never leaving his side and even now being able to understand what his palisman is saying. He has fair skin, pointy ears, dark magenta eyes, thick black eyebrows, a gap between his front teeth, bags under his eyes, and ash-blond hair that is shaved below the top with a long, jagged forelock. He has a notch on his left ear and scars on his right cheek, upper left arm, and legs. Despite his laid-back persona, Hunter is easily annoyed when things don't go his way, as seen with his interactions with Luz. He also seems to have a fascination with wild magic, despite Belos telling him not to, and is seen nerding out over it with Luz.

However, with palistrom wood becoming an increasingly rare resource, palismen are becoming much more difficult to come by, and while the Golden Guard suggests a method of using wild magic, Belos refuses to entertain that notion. During the Haunted Hayride, Hunter dressed as "Chief O'Bailey" from Cosmic Frontier, with the costume consisting of a black and yellow long-sleeved shirt with a planet symbol on it, a utility belt, black pants with cuffs and yellow edges, white socks, black and dark yellow shoes, and a robotic eye attachment. While staying in the Human Realm, Hunter had his hair and forelock trimmed by Willow, giving him short bangs. When Belos possessed him, parts of Hunter's skin, left ear, and face became basil-green that spread to his arms, turning them into the ones of Belos' corrupted form while also gaining the blue eyes and antler-like horns of the latter. After being healed from Flapjack's sacrifice, Hunter received tissue scarring in the areas Belos corrupted and his eyes became brown.

They watch Luz attempt to stay behind to keep the portal open, but King pushes her and the others through the door and it soon closes. They arrive in the Human Realm during a rainstorm as Luz tries and fails to get back to their friends. After realizing they are stranded in the Human Realm, Luz takes him and the rest of the group to her house. However, when Hunter convinces Amity to untie him due to Kikimora having found them, he turns on Amity, kicking her legs out from under her and leaving her to be captured by the Emperor's Coven while he runs off to get the Titan's Blood before anyone else can. Amity later finds Hunter in the middle of the dried up Eclipse Lake, visibly exhausted from having fought his way through Kikimora and her guards and having a breakdown due to having found no Titan's Blood for Belos.

He was, however, more laid-back and easygoing than Emperor Belos, being sometimes comedic and snarky in his dialogue. Despite his high-ranking position and upper-class status, he never takes advantage of his power for personal gain, only using his authority when ordered by Emperor Belos himself. He showed deep respect and love towards Belos, yet quite a bit of hubris and egotism towards anyone else, which earned him the dislike of many of his compatriots. Lilith describes Hunter as a brat who is well renowned within the Emperor's Coven and would always receive special treatment for being a "genius teen prodigy",[4] though it's possible that Lilith exaggerated this out of jealousy. A fight ensues, with Hunter (with the help of his new palisman) fighting both Amity and King in an effort to get the key. Hunter and Amity eventually get into a stalemate, and he manipulates her into giving him the key by saying that he knows where to find both her and Luz.

Coven
As of February 19, 2022, Hunter & Luz is the character's most popular platonic relationship on AO3 and Edric/Hunter is the romantic one despite two of them not having directly interacted in the series yet. [9] Though less popular than Lumity, Lunter is also a common ship that gets backlash from other fans, some of whom see Lunter as a homophobic attack on a queer canon couple. After their interactions on the second season, Huntlow (Hunter/Wilow) has also gained some popularity. Emperor Belos's nephew and right-hand man, a highly skilled fighter despite his young age. Hunter became the head of the Emperor's Coven after Lilith's defection, though as he learns more about the world outside the Emperor's Coven, his loyalty slowly gets put to the test...
Soon after he sees Belos, Hunter spends the day questioning if Belos truly is alive and tasks Luz with searching the house with him. After finding no trace of Belos, he is relived and starts to cry after Luz declares him family. Back with the others, Gus explains that he and Hunter will attend the Gravesfield Halloween Festival as Captain Avery and Chief Engineer O'Bailey respectively. The others fill him in on how the map, a rebus, could lead to Titan's Blood in Old Gravesfield. Darius tasks him with aiding Luz and King in freeing the three Blight siblings and he has Gus and Willow join them.
Showing sympathy for him, they take him on a tour of the Boiling Isles to the sites of past adventures so they can help him understand true friendship. When Belos possesses the Titan's heart and infects the Boiling Isles, Luz sacrifices her life to save the Collector, who becomes remorseful while realizing the fragility and value of life. After Luz is restored to life by a repentant Titan, the Collector helps keep her friends and the Archive House safe, and is shown gratitude by Amity once Belos is defeated and destroyed. After restoring everyone under his spell, the Collector decides to return to the stars to do some "growing up", but is encouraged by King to revisit the Isles in the future. He also creates a permanent portal between the Human and Demon Realms for Luz, and returns to put on a light show for her "King-ceañera" party.
Golden Guard

At the end of the episode when the truth was revealed, Hunter was expressively worried and apologized, saying that it all happened so fast and he didn't realize what was happening until she was gone. The group are taken to Hexside where they learn the students have been sheltering after the Day of Unity. After learning Boscha is in charge, the group fails to convince her to help them take on the Collector. After being thrown out of her throne room, Luz remembers she saw Belos use an intricate glyph pattern to teleport, and they head to the photo room to find the memory.

Luz decides to go after them and the group is soon found by Skara, Barcus, and Matt Tholomule. Hunter wakes up, with his magenta eyes now brown, and reveals he knows of Flapjack's sacrifice. As the portal closes, Luz reveals that she helped Belos meet the Collector, but Hunter and the others do not blame her. Everyone, except Vee, heads to the Demon Realm, with him being the first to cross. After helping their team win a match of flyer derby, Hunter comes up with the team name, "The Emerald Entrails". However, he then reveals his true intentions, and the "recruits" are taken to a holding cell before Darius picks them up.
In "Hunting Palismen", Flapjack took a liking to Hunter while he saw the red-colored bird as just another palisman for his uncle, but after spending time with both Flapjack and Luz, Hunter began to act nice towards him. When the bird came to him later, Hunter told the palisman (who he previously called "bird") to leave before Belos could see him, knowing the fate that befell any palisman his uncle got his hands on, but was surprised when Flapjack instead picked him to be his bounded witch by turning into a staff in front of him. The following day, as the others are about to search around town, he is forced to stay behind after cosplaying as O'Bailey. When the others leave, he finally learns to accept himself despite not knowing who he is supposed to be. Soon, Flapjack notices a green substance on the floor and Hunter touches it with his injured finger.
After Belos possessed Hunter and he broke free, Camila jumps into the water to save him from drowning. When Hunter was recovered, Camila asked him if he was okay and affectionately referred to him as "baby". Willow and Hunter are good friends, as they both share some similarities in that they are both referred to as "half-a-witch" by their peers and have a desire to prove themselves. In "Labyrinth Runners", when Gus asks Hunter if he knows where Luz is, Hunter is surprised that Luz isn't with Eda, causing him to worry. When he reunites with Luz in "Clouds on the Horizon", they are more sympathetic with each other. After Luz is resurrected and fights Belos with King and Eda, he, Willow, Gus, and Amity use glyphs drawn by Camila to save the puppets.
